Claire was a much-loved daughter, wife, mother and friend. Despite her ongoing battle, she was always willing to support others when they sought her comfort. Her resilience, courage and humility inspired many, and her sense of humor never deserted her. She was a special woman who was taken far too soon and will be sadly missed by so many.
Claire fought an extremely long and valiant fight against cancer, during which time, she was extremely grateful for the care she received from all involved in the NHS. She was also fortunate to be supported by the Macmillan Specialist Care Nurses. They were present at most of the outpatient appointments, and always only a phone call away, ready to answer questions, provide comfort, reassurance and provide short-cut access to doctors whenever the need arose.
It was Claire’s wish to die peacefully at home surrounded by her family (including pets). The amazing 24-hour support provided by the Rennie Grove nurses in her final days, ensured her last wish was granted.
Living with a cancer diagnosis is challenging for everyone involved, but knowing that both Macmillan and Rennie Grove were there whenever needed, gave Claire the confidence she needed to continue to live a full and active life almost to the end. Both these charities rely heavily upon donations. If you are able to make a donation in Claire’s memory, it will help to ensure this invaluable support continues to be there for others.
Together we will beat cancer.
